About Red Faction
Red Faction began with Volition in 2001 about miner Parker sparking the Mars uprising against Ultor. Red Faction II (2002) moves to Earth with Alias fighting the Nanocell plot. Guerrilla (2009) jumps generations to Alec Mason's open-world revolt, and Armageddon (2011) follows his grandson Darius against the alien hive.
The Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered edition (2018) modernized the open-world peak as the version to play. No new Red Faction has been dated as of 2026, with Volition closing in 2023 and the IP resting at Plaion.
Good to know
Play one through four in release order, since the Ultor fall and the Mason line assume the run. Guerrilla works as the modern start with its destruction sandbox intact across the open Tharsis zones. Armageddon's linear turn divides fans after the open revolt, so expect a format shift at the end of the run.
