About Skate

Skate is EA's skateboarding series built around Flick-It stick controls. The original trilogy runs from Skate (2007) through Skate 3 (2010), and newcomers should start with Skate 3. It has the fullest package of the three, it runs offline, and it teaches the controls from zero.

Release order is the recommended play order, and story barely matters across the series. Each original entry moves to a new district or city with a fresh career, so you lose nothing by playing them in sequence. The reboot skate. is free-to-play, online-only and set in San Vansterdam. It launched in early access on September 16, 2025 and keeps getting seasonal updates, so treat it as a live game rather than a finished sequel.

Good to know

skate. needs a persistent internet connection and an EA account, with optional in-game purchases. EA has confirmed no loot boxes or pay-to-win mechanics. Skate 1 and 2 run on modern Xbox hardware through backward compatibility, while Skate 3 remains the easiest original to buy and play today.
