About Thief
Thief began with Looking Glass in 1998 about Garrett stealing through the City against the Trickster. Metal Age (2000) continued against the Mechanists and Karras, and Deadly Shadows (2004) from Ion Storm closed the Keeper prophecy. The 2014 reboot from Eidos Montreal restarted Garrett in a new City with Erin beside him.
No new Thief has been dated as of 2026, with Eidos Montreal moving to other projects after the reboot divided fans. The fan campaigns like The Black Parade extend the formula, but the four official games stand as the complete run.
Good to know
Play the trilogy first in release order, then the 2014 reboot as its own take, since the Keepers and the City factions assume the originals. Deadly Shadows' Shalebridge Cradle ranks as the series peak, so do not skip the third game. The reboot's City shares names only with new lore, safe as an alternate after the classics.
