About Total Annihilation

Total Annihilation is a 1997 Cavedog RTS about Arm and Core machines fighting over dead worlds. The base game sets the construction and unit flow that later RTS games copied. Core Contingency adds new units, ships and a longer campaign with harder water maps.

Battle Tactics adds short missions for veterans. Kingdoms swaps robots for fantasy factions in the same engine. Release order keeps the unit counters clear. Modern players often use open engines to run the old discs, but the mission order below stays the same.

Good to know

Play the base game, then Core Contingency, then Battle Tactics, then Kingdoms. The expansions need the original disc or files. Kingdoms is a reskin rather than a sequel, so it sits last as a side trip rather than the climax. The old soundtracks and unit voices still carry the late 1990s charm for returning players.
