About Zoo Tycoon
Zoo Tycoon from October 2001 covers zoo building on PC with Dinosaur Digs and Marine Mania in 2002 plus a Complete Collection in 2003. Zoo Tycoon 2 from November 2004 adds 3D keepers with Endangered Species, African Adventure, Dino Danger, Marine Mania and Extinct Animals through 2007.
A reboot arrived in 2013 on Xbox consoles from Frontier with an Ultimate Animal Collection in 2017 on Xbox and Windows. No new video game has been announced beyond a Dinosaur Digs board game crowdfunding in 2026. The PC originals hold the deepest systems.
Good to know
Play Zoo Tycoon 1 with Complete Collection, then Zoo Tycoon 2 Ultimate Collection, then the 2013 reboot. The expansions fold into the collections cleanly, so skip separate installs. The reboot suits gamepad sessions while the PC pair suits long campaigns. Each zoo stands alone after the loop clicks.
