About The Bad News Bears

The Bad News Bears from 1976 follows coach Buttermaker and the misfit kids under Walter Matthau with Tatum O'Neal leading. Breaking Training from 1977 takes them to Houston with new ownership, and Go to Japan from 1978 closes the original run abroad with culture clash games.

A CBS series ran 26 episodes from 1979 to 1980 with Jack Warden as an alternate branch retelling the setup. The 2005 remake from Richard Linklater with Billy Bob Thornton retells the original for modern crowds. A female led reboot reported in 2022 never moved, so nothing is upcoming.

Good to know

Watch the 1976 film, then the 1977 and 1978 sequels in order from start to finish. The TV series retells rather than continues, so it works as an extra after the films. The 2005 remake stands alone for new viewers who want modern pacing and language. All versions end with the team losing well rather than winning big.
