About Batman

Eight Batman-led theatrical films span three separate continuities. Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher's run covers 1989 to 1997, Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy covers 2005 to 2012, and Matt Reeves's The Batman (2022) starts a noir detective era with Robert Pattinson. No story connects across those three eras.

Two more are on the board: The Batman Part II arrives February 18, 2028, and the DCU reboot The Brave and the Bold has a script in development but no date. This guide tracks Batman-led features only, which is why ensemble films and the Joker movies sit outside it.

Good to know

Scope choice: this guide covers theatrically released films led by Batman. Joker (2019) and Joker: Folie a Deux (2024) are Joker-led and excluded. Ensemble DCEU entries where Batman supports the team (Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, both Justice League cuts, The Flash) are excluded, as are animated features such as Mask of the Phantasm and The Lego Batman Movie. The DCU villain film Clayface (October 23, 2026) is not Batman-led and is also excluded. The Brave and the Bold has a writer but no date; August 2026 reporting described it as on hold pending the Warner Bros. Discovery merger outcome, so treat its status as uncertain.
