About Beaches
Beaches follows CC Bloom with Hillary across decades from boardwalk kids to New York mothers in 1988 with Midler and Hershey. It sets the letters, the plays and the wind song. The film ends with the pair firm and remains the classic. The 2017 remake follows the same friendship plot with Parrish in a new cast for TV. No third film has been dated in this guide. Watch the 1988 original first, then the 2017 remake, since the remake assumes the friendship rules. Both tell the same Iris Rainer story separately with new beaches and songs. Letters stand alone per decade, but play and song beats grow from boardwalk to TV remake.
Good to know
Release order works best, with the classic revealed before the remake riffs on it. Story order does not apply, since both tell the same plot separately in different eras. Either film works alone, but the remake beats land best after the original. Start at the 1988 entry for the full boardwalk rules and CC piano.
