About Beaconsfield
Beaconsfield Studios opened in 1922 on Station Road in Buckinghamshire and survived the 1924 slump before British Lion bought the site in 1929. Edgar Wallace chaired the company and directed The Squeaker there in 1930, while Sally in Our Alley in 1931 turned Gracie Fields into a film star. Sporting Love followed in 1936 on the same lot.
After wartime requisition the studio housed Beaconsfield Productions, maker of modest programmers such as The Love Match and The Blue Peter in 1955, The Vicious Circle and The Truth About Women in 1957, and Carry On Teacher in 1959. Commercial production wound down in the 1960s and the National Film School moved in during 1971, so watch these standalone pictures in release order.
Good to know
This starter pick covers eight pictures, a fraction of what the studio produced across four decades plus television work like Ivanhoe and Ghost Squad. The films share no story continuity, so there is no separate chronological order worth listing. The site stopped commercial production in the 1960s and now houses the National Film and Television School, which is why this guide is marked completed.
