About Benji
Benji from 1974 follows the stray mutt rescuing kidnapped kids, made by Joe Camp on a tiny budget with huge returns. For the Love of Benji from 1977 moves the dog to Greece, while Oh Heavenly Dog from 1980 reincarnates him with Chevy Chase voicing.
Benji the Hunted from 1987 strands him raising orphan cougars in the wild. Off the Leash from 2004 reboots with a new dog, and the Netflix Benji from 2018 reboots again with Brandon Camp. A 1978 Christmas special and a 1983 alien prince series sit as side extras.
Good to know
Watch the 1974 film first, then the sequels in release order. Each story stands alone with a new family, so order matters little past the original charm. The 2004 and 2018 films restart rather than continue, which means either works as an alternate entry. No new film is announced beyond the 2018 run.
