About Bob Fosse
Bob Fosse directed five features from 1969 to 1983 that fuse dance cutting with showbiz strain. Sweet Charity from 1969 opens the stage-to-screen move with Shirley MacLaine taxi dancer hope, while Cabaret from 1972 locks Berlin club rot with Liza Minnelli and Lenny from 1974 turns comic Lenny Bruce into stark black and white pressure.
All That Jazz from 1979 closes the self portrait with Scheider stand-in excess and death-stage edits, then Star 80 from 1983 ends cold with the Dorothy Stratten case. Watch in release order from 1969 to 1983, since dance edits, fame costs and body toll ideas stack across films and the late close lands best with that chain intact.
Good to know
Watch Sweet Charity first for the stage move, then Cabaret and Lenny for the club and comic turns, then All That Jazz as the self portrait peak before Star 80 last as the cold end. The films share no plot, so any order works, but release shows how dance joy curdles into toll. Skipping ahead loses how cutting grows harsher. Fosse died in 1987, so the 1983 film is the final feature.
