About Charles Burnett
Charles Burnett directed Killer of Sheep in 1978 and My Brother's Wedding in 1983, Watts neorealist pictures shot around day jobs.
To Sleep with Anger arrived in 1990, The Glass Shield in 1994, The Annihilation of Fish in 1999 and Namibia: The Struggle for Liberation in 2007. Watch in release order. The Los Angeles films share streets but no continuity, with the non actor patience constant throughout. Glover anchors the anger while Ice Cube leads the shield run. The Watts patience never hurries.
Good to know
There is no shared continuity, so no chronological order exists. Killer of Sheep, To Sleep with Anger and The Glass Shield make the clearest core. The Selma television film and documentaries sit outside this features list. No feature has followed Namibia since 2007, so the six stand as the run. Start with Killer of Sheep.
