About Hercule Poirot
Kenneth Branagh directs and stars as Hercule Poirot in a loose trilogy adapting Agatha Christie. Murder on the Orient Express from 2017 keeps the train setup with a large suspect cast. Death on the Nile from 2022 moves to Egypt and adds more backstory for Poirot himself.
A Haunting in Venice from 2023 shifts into ghost story tone in post war Italy. The three share no plot thread beyond Poirot, so they can be watched in any order, though release order tracks the style change best. A fourth film has been discussed but had no date as of September 2026.
Good to know
Watch in release order for the cleanest run. The Orient Express reveal hits hardest with no prior knowledge, while Venice assumes you accept this older, sadder Poirot. The older Suchet TV series is a separate take and fits anywhere as background. Treat the Branagh run as open rather than closed while a fourth case stays possible.
