Chronicles of Narnia Watch Order

The three Narnia films in release order, where the story sits across them, and how Greta Gerwig's The Magician's Nephew reboot fits. The original trilogy tells one straight story, so release order and story order are the same list here.

About Chronicles of Narnia

The Narnia films adapt C.S. Lewis books about children pulled from wartime England into a magical land ruled by Aslan the lion. Walden Media made three of them: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in 2005, Prince Caspian in 2008 and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in 2010. Each follows the Pevensie children or their cousin Eustace at a different point in Narnia's history.

Netflix and Greta Gerwig reboot the series with Narnia: The Magician's Nephew, an origin story set a thousand years before the first film. It opens in theaters February 12, 2027 and streams on Netflix April 2, 2027.

Good to know

Release order is story order for the three Walden films, so there is no separate chronological list worth making. The book order differs, since The Magician's Nephew was published sixth but tells the earliest story, and that is exactly what the 2027 film adapts. Watch the original three first. The Gerwig film is a reboot with a new cast, not a sequel, so it works as a fresh start once it lands.
