About Cristi Puiu
Cristi Puiu launched the Romanian New Wave with Stuff and Dough about a package run to Bucharest. Death of Mr Lazarescu follows one night ambulance ride across hospitals. Aurora follows a killer across two days in the same city. Sieranevada locks a family memorial lunch in one apartment.
Malmkrog stages a Transylvanian manor debate on war and morals, and MMXX follows therapy and police threads in Cluj. Release order keeps the duration and talk expanding together, since each film trusts the viewer to sit longer.
Good to know
Watch in release order. The shorts Cigarettes and Coffee and Three Exercises can wait until after Aurora and Sieranevada as studies. His next feature La Saint Andre des loups is in post production with no date, so it stays out until dated. No shared plot links the features, so each long take works alone.
