About Denis Arcand
Denis Arcand broke out with The Decline of the American Empire in 1986 about Quebec intellectuals talking. Jesus of Montreal followed in 1989 restaging the passion with actors, then Stardom in 2000 mocked fame. The Barbarian Invasions arrived in 2003 reuniting the Decline cast for a deathbed farewell and won the foreign Oscar.
The Fall of the American Empire came in 2018 with a delivery driver finding cash. The films share talky dinners and Quebec politics but only Decline links to Invasions. Release order shows his satire softening into elegy.
