About The Descent

The Descent from 2005 follows six friends into an unmapped Appalachian system where blind crawlers hunt them, directed by Neil Marshall. It played the U.K. first before Lionsgate's U.S. run with alternate endings by territory. The Descent Part 2 from December 2009 in the U.K. drags Sarah back underground with sheriff Vaines to find the missing.

Jon Harris directed the sequel with Marshall executive producing. Part 2 earned about 7 million worldwide. No third film has been made. The two form a closed two-night ordeal with no spinoffs in the list.

Good to know

Release order is story order with no gap, so do not swap them. The U.S. and U.K. endings of part 1 differ on Sarah's escape, which changes how Part 2's opening reads, so prefer the U.K. cut if you can. Part 2 reuses cave sets and daylight sparingly, which is intentional. With Marshall moved on, the 2009 entry is the finale.
