About Divergent
Divergent ran three films from 2014 to 2016 adapting Roth's trilogy minus its planned finale. Divergent sorts Tris into Dauntless, Insurgent from 2015 breaks the faction war open, and Allegiant from 2016 splits the last book and stops halfway.
The planned Ascendant TV finale never filmed, so the screen story ends mid-book with the Chicago wall breached. The novels close properly with Allegiant's ending, which makes the books the only way to finish Tris and Four's arc. Tris moves from Abnegation to Dauntless while Four guards his own secret through every test.
