About Friday the 13th
Friday the 13th runs twelve films from 1980 to 2009, built around Camp Crystal Lake and Jason Voorhees. The 1980 original is a Pamela Voorhees story, Jason takes over from Part 2 onward, and the Tommy Jarvis trilogy across parts 4 to 6 gives the middle films their shape. Later entries push Jason to Manhattan, Hell and space before the 2003 Freddy vs Jason crossover.
The 2009 reboot remixes the first four films into one story and works as an alternate start. A prequel series called Crystal Lake is in development at A24 and Peacock, with no premiere date yet, so the film list below stays complete until that lands and earns a place.
Good to know
Release order is story order for the main run, which keeps this to a single list. Two caveats: Part V uses a copycat killer rather than Jason, and Jason X jumps centuries into the future before Freddy vs Jason pulls the timeline back to the present. The 1987 television series shares only the title and stays out of the list. Watch the 2009 film last on a first run, since it assumes you know the Crystal Lake setup.
