About Grave Encounters
Grave Encounters from 2011 follows a ghost hunting TV crew, led by Lance Preston, faking an overnight stay in Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital until the building seals them in. Directors Colin Minihan and Stuart Ortiz shot it as recovered tapes with no outside rescue. The crew's fraud setup makes the real haunting hit harder.
Grave Encounters 2 from 2012 follows film student Alex, obsessed with the first tapes, hiring friends to break into the same hospital. The sequel replays key scares while expanding the hospital's looping halls. No third film was made, so the 2012 exit stands as the end.
Good to know
Watch the 2011 film first without reading spoilers, since the sequel opens by naming who lived. The second assumes you know the S1 crew fates and the window demon rules.
