About Grease
Grease from June 1978 follows Danny and Sandy at Rydell High in 1958 to 1959. Grease 2 from June 1982 jumps to 1961 with new leads and the same school. Grease Live in January 2016 on Fox remakes the 1978 film live rather than continuing it.
Rise of the Pink Ladies ran 10 episodes in 2023 on Paramount Plus as a prequel set in 1954 about the gang founding. It was cancelled and removed the same year. The prequel film Summer Lovin was announced in 2019 with no date as of September 2026. Release order keeps the songs where they landed.
Good to know
Story order would start with Rise of the Pink Ladies in 1954, then Grease in 1958, then Grease 2 in 1961, with Live as an alternate take on Grease. The guide still recommends release order because the prequel assumes you know the Pink Ladies myth. Summer Lovin has no date, so it sits outside the list until Paramount sets one.
