About Henry Selick
The Nightmare Before Christmas from 1993 remains the famous credit debate: Tim Burton produced and conceived it, but Selick directed every frame of stop-motion. James and the Giant Peach from 1996 mixes puppets with live action for Dahl's voyage, while Monkeybone from 2001 swerves into live-action cartoon noir and stays the odd one out. Coraline from 2009 adapts Gaiman's other-mother story.
Wendell and Wild from 2022 ends a long gap with a demon-brother comedy co-written with Jordan Peele. His shorts and pilot work stay outside this feature list. Watch the five features in release order, since the craft visibly compounds from holiday musical to 3D Coraline to the Netflix return.
Good to know
Settle the authorship question first: Burton's name sells the 1993 film, but the direction is Selick's throughout, a fact both men confirm. Monkeybone divides fans sharply, so treat it as a curiosity between the family peaks. Coraline in 3D was staged for depth rather than gimmicks, and the flat version loses little. Gaps between films run years, so each release plays as an event.
