About James Gunn
Slither opened in 2006 with horror comedy, Super in 2010 with crimson justice, and Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014 with mixtape space. Vol 2 followed in 2017, Suicide Squad in 2021 with Task Force X reboot, and Vol 3 in 2023 closing the trilogy.
Superman opened July 11, 2025 after a July 7 premiere as the DCU launch. Man of Tomorrow follows July 9, 2027 as announced September 2025. Watch the seven released in release order, since the needle drop ensemble habit carries into Superman without shared plot.
Good to know
These are standalone except Guardians and DCU runs, so release order beats timeline shuffling. The Guardians three play together here, not in MCU marathon order. Superman starts a new continuity apart from Snyder films with fresh casting. Man of Tomorrow sits last with its July 2027 date once released.
