About Men in Black
Men in Black follows a secret agency that monitors alien life on Earth, built around Agent J and Agent K. The first three films form one arc: the 1997 original introduces J, the 2002 sequel erases and restores K's memory, and the 2012 third film sends J back to 1969 to save young K. Josh Brolin plays the younger K in most of that film.
Men in Black: International from 2019 is a soft reboot with new leads in London, starring Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth. It shares the same agency and rules but does not continue J and K's story, so it works as an optional extra after the trilogy rather than a fourth chapter.
Good to know
Release order is story order here, with one wrinkle: most of Men in Black 3 takes place in 1969, but it is a time travel story that starts and ends in the present, so it plays best in release order. The animated series from 1997 to 2001 is a separate continuity for completists and stays out of the main list. International is skippable if you only want the J and K story, since no dated sequel has been announced.
