About Jean-Marc Vallee
Jean-Marc Vallee broke out with CRAZY in 2005 about a Quebec teen in the 1970s. The Young Victoria followed in 2009, then Dallas Buyers Club in 2013 won acting Oscars for McConaughey and Leto. Wild arrived in 2014 with Witherspoon hiking the Pacific Crest Trail.
Demolition came in 2015 with Gyllenhaal pulling his life apart, then Big Little Lies season 1 in 2017 and Sharp Objects in 2018 closed his run on HBO. He died in 2021, so the list is complete. Release order shows his handheld healing style best.
Good to know
Watch the five films oldest to newest, then the two HBO runs. Dallas Buyers Club and Wild pair as his mid 2010s peak with McConaughey and Witherspoon. Big Little Lies and Sharp Objects need the film habit first since the cutting matches well. CRAZY first sets the Quebec music base. The run is closed after 2018 with no further entries planned at all.
