About Joseph Losey
Joseph Losey left Hollywood after the blacklist and rebuilt his career in Britain, starting here with the race against the clock in Time Without Pity from 1957. The Criminal from 1960 and Eve from 1962 show his cold, precise style settling in, and The Servant from 1963 with Harold Pinter begins the run he is best known for.
King and Country from 1964 stages a war tribunal as a class trial, then Accident from 1967 and The Go-Between from 1971 complete the Pinter trio about memory and power. Monsieur Klein from 1976 closes the list in occupied Paris. Release order is the right way to watch, since each film sharpens the same tools.
Good to know
These eight are a starter path, not the full filmography of more than thirty features, so early American work and late French films are set aside. The Pinter three sit at the center for a reason, and watching them in sequence makes their shared interest in power clear. Titles are listed by original release year, which matches how most repertory seasons and disc editions order them.
