About Monsters Inc
Monsters Inc follows scarers Sulley and Mike learning that children's laughter powers their city better than screams. The 2001 film ends with the factory converted to laugh power, and Monsters at Work picks up the next day with new hire Tylor joining the Laugh Floor.
Monsters University rewinds to Mike and Sulley's college rivalry years before the factory job. Party Central sits in that college era with the Oozma Kappa fraternity. Release order starts at the factory, while story order starts at school, so this guide gives both.
Good to know
Chronological order differs here because the prequel released twelve years after the original. First-timers should use release order, since University assumes affection for Mike and Sulley built in the 2001 film. Mike's New Car is a short set after the original. Monsters at Work ran two seasons from 2021 to 2024. A third feature is only in development with no date.
