About Parent Trap
The Parent Trap began with Disney's 1961 film about twins Susan and Sharon swapping at camp to reunite their parents. TV sequels followed the same family: II (1986) around the triplet complication and III (1989) plus Hawaiian Honeymoon (1989) closing the line. The 1998 remake from Nancy Meyers recast Lindsay Lohan as Hallie and Annie with the London-Napa split.
The 1961 and 1998 versions tell the same story fresh with no shared cast, so either starts clean for its generation. No new Parent Trap has been announced, leaving the remake as the current version rather than a series start.
Good to know
Watch the 1961 original first for the classic split-screen doubling, then the 1998 remake as its own telling rather than a sequel. The TV sequels assume the 1961 family directly, so keep those together after the original. Later viewers can start with 1998 safely, since it reteaches the camp swap from zero.
