About The Preacher's Wife
The Bishop's Wife follows angel Dudley with bishop Henry and Julia at Christmas in 1947 with Grant, Niven and Young. It sets the church, the choir and the angel rules. The film ends with the pair firm and remains the classic. The Preacher's Wife from 1996 follows the same angel plot with Washington and Houston in a Black church for new viewers. No third film has been dated in this guide. Watch the 1947 original first, then the 1996 remake, since the remake assumes the angel rules. Both tell the same Nathaniel Benchley story separately with new churches and songs.
