About Robert Langdon
Tom Hanks plays symbologist Robert Langdon in three Ron Howard films for Columbia Pictures: The Da Vinci Code (2006), Angels and Demons (2009) and Inferno (2016). Angels and Demons adapts Dan Brown's 2000 prequel novel but Howard filmed it as a sequel to the 2006 film.
Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol (Peacock, 10 episodes, September 16 to November 18, 2021) stars Ashley Zukerman as a young Langdon and was cancelled January 24, 2022. Netflix started production in Prague in September 2026 on a Secret of Secrets series with Morgan Spector and Rebecca Hall, run by Carlton Cuse, with no premiere date announced.
Good to know
Novel order differs from film order: Angels and Demons (2000) comes before The Da Vinci Code (2003), then The Lost Symbol (2009), Inferno (2013), Origin (2017) and The Secret of Secrets (2025). Howard skipped The Lost Symbol for Inferno because he felt it was too close in tone to the first two films. The Netflix show adapts the 2025 novel and is not a continuation of the Peacock series.
