About Sharkboy and Lavagirl
The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl opened June 10, 2005 from Robert Rodriguez about Max dreaming up Sharkboy and Lavagirl to save Planet Drool. Taylor Lautner played Sharkboy and Taylor Dooley played Lavagirl. We Can Be Heroes arrived December 25, 2020 on Netflix as a standalone sequel.
The sequel shows Sharkboy and Lavagirl married with daughter Guppy among the Heroics kids. Dooley returns while Lautner does not. Spy Kids from the same director is a separate series with no shared plot, so it stays out of this list.
Good to know
Watch the 2005 film first for Max and Planet Drool, then We Can Be Heroes for the grown up payoff. The sequel works without the original but Guppy jokes land better with it. Both run around 100 minutes. No third Sharkboy film has been dated, so these two are the full story. Expect heavy green screen and kid logic throughout.
