About The Hunchback of Notre Dame

The Hunchback of Notre Dame follows Quasimodo, voiced by Tom Hulce, with Esmeralda, Phoebus and Frollo in 1482 Paris. It premiered June 19, 1996 and opened wide June 21, 1996 from Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise. The film runs 91 minutes, cost about 100 million and earned 325 million worldwide.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame II arrived March 19, 2002 on VHS and DVD from director Bradley Raymond. Hulce, Demi Moore and Kevin Kline return with Jennifer Love Hewitt as Madellaine and Haley Joel Osment as Zephyr. The plot follows a circus magician trying to steal the bell La Fidele.

Good to know

Watch the 1996 film, then the 2002 sequel. The sequel assumes Frollo is gone and introduces Esmeralda and Phoebus son Zephyr, so it only works second. No third film or series was ordered. Both films are rated G and run under 95 minutes each, so the pair fits in one evening with time to spare for songs.
