About The Wild Robot
The Wild Robot follows Roz, voiced by Lupita Nyongo, learning to raise an orphan gosling on a wild island. Chris Sanders wrote and directed the 102 minute PG film for DreamWorks from Peter Brown 2016 novel. It moved from September 20 to September 27 to avoid Transformers One, then went digital October 15, 2024 and to disc December 3.
A sequel adapting Brown second book The Wild Robot Escapes was confirmed October 12, 2024. Troy Quane directs with Heidi Jo Gilbert as co-director and Sanders on script. No release date has been set as of 2026, with reports calling it early development. The book series has four titles, but only two are optioned for film.
Good to know
Watch the 2024 film first. The sequel will continue Roz story from the farm book, so it belongs second whenever it lands. The post credit tree planting closes the first film cleanly. Ignore fan wiki dates for 2027 or 2028, since Universal has not dated the film. The Brown novels can be read in order while waiting.
