About Timecop
Timecop (1994) gives Van Damme his best vehicle: a time agent policing the black market of the past, with a split-timeline finale that still holds up. Timecop 2 (2003) goes direct to video with Jason Scott Lee inheriting the badge for a standalone case.
The 1997 ABC series with T.W. King runs nine episodes in its own continuity, borrowing the premise and little else. Watch the 1994 film first, treat the series as an alternate take, and finish with the 2003 sequel as a bonus. The franchise never resolved its futures, but each entry closes its own loop.
Good to know
The series was cancelled mid-run, so its ninth episode is not a finale: expect an abrupt stop. Timecop 2 ignores the show entirely and barely references the original, which makes it the easiest skip if time is short. The oft-discussed remake has never materialized past development talk. The 1994 film's practical effects and single-timeline rules keep it the clear recommended start.
