About Torrente
Torrente follows Jose Luis Torrente, a drunk and corrupt Madrid ex cop who stumbles through cases chasing glory and easy money. Created and played by Santiago Segura, the satire weaponizes his awfulness across five films of escalating bad taste. The early run covers the 1998 original and the 2001 Marbella sequel.
The middle stretch follows the 2005 protector mission and the 2011 prison break caper with bigger casts and grosser gags. The closing run ends with the 2014 Eurovegas casino heist, the biggest hit of the run. Five films make it Spain top grossing comedy series. Watch the films in release order.
Good to know
Watch the five films in release order in three blocks, since sidekicks and running gags return with memory of past humiliations. The humor is deliberately offensive satire, with the detective as the butt of every joke. No sixth film has released, so the five form the complete run through Eurovegas. Segura directs and stars throughout. The 2014 finale works as a sendoff.
