About Turner and Hooch
Turner and Hooch pairs neat detective Scott Turner with messy dog Hooch to solve a murder in the 1989 original that ends with a new puppy named after Hooch. The film runs 100 minutes of drool gags, wrecked cars, and stakeouts that set the partnership rules and the odd couple charm.
The 2021 Disney series follows Turner son Scott Jr inheriting a Hooch descendant for 12 episodes of cases with new neighbors, precinct humor, and training mishaps. It is a legacy sequel rather than a remake, so the series assumes the film partnership known while starting a fresh case board with light family stakes and steady teamwork.
Good to know
Watch the 1989 film first for the original partnership, then the 2021 series as a legacy follow-up with Scott Jr and the new Hooch. Story order matches release order across the gap, so one list covers it cleanly for new viewers. The series ends its case arc with no second season dated, so the pair counts as complete as of this check with the film as the core.
