About Ty West
Ti West (2009 to 2024) built from slow-burn haunted films to the X slasher trilogy. Start with The House of the Devil (2009) for the babysitter satanic panic and The Innkeepers (2011) for the hotel ghost siege. Then run the trilogy: X (2022), Pearl (2022) and MaXXXine (2024).
Watch in release order because the trilogy was shot back to back with payoff cameos. The early haunts teach his patient dread style before the slashers turn explicit. X and Pearl mirror each other as fame murders, while MaXXXine closes Maxine's arc in 1980s Los Angeles. The five films form his core horror path with no shared universe beyond the trilogy and its Maxine thread.
Good to know
The core path is five films: two early haunts plus the three-part X story. Pearl works as a prequel but lands harder after X, so keep release order rather than chronological. MaXXXine leans on 1980s Hollywood horror homage. Skip his TV episodes and shorts for this film path, since the five features carry the style from retro dread to modern slasher command.
