About Wang Bing
Wang Bing shoots long duration portraits of labor and memory. West of the Tracks from 2003 runs over nine hours across Rust, Remnants and Rails in Shenyang factories. Fengming from 2007 records one woman memory of camps. The Ditch from 2010 stages camp fiction, Three Sisters from 2012 follows Yunnan siblings.
Til Madness Do Us Part from 2013 stays in a mental ward, Bitter Money from 2016 tracks migrant workshops. Mrs Fang from 2017 watches final days, Dead Souls from 2018 runs over eight hours on camp survivors. Youth Spring from 2023, Hard Times and Homecoming from 2024 to 2025 follow garment workers across seasons.
Good to know
Watch in release order, but split the epics. West of the Tracks plays in three parts across nights, Dead Souls the same. Shorter entries like Mrs Fang at 90 minutes work as trial runs for his pace. The Youth trilogy closes the current run and plays lighter than the camp films. Start with Three Sisters for the human core, then attempt West of the Tracks.
