About A Wrinkle in Time

A Wrinkle in Time adapts Madeleine L'Engle's 1962 novel about Meg Murry crossing space with Mrs Whatsit, Mrs Who and Mrs Which to save her father. The first version premiered April 24, 2003 as a 124 minute TV film from Disney and Fireworks with Katie Stuart as Meg.

Disney remade it March 9, 2018 with Ava DuVernay directing, Storm Reid as Meg and Oprah Winfrey as Mrs Which on a 103 million budget. Both cover the same book plot with different effects and casting. No third adaptation has been announced, so these two are the full set.

Good to know

Watch either film first since each stands alone as a full adaptation. The 2003 version follows the novel plot more closely on a TV budget. The 2018 version changes the Mrs characters and the ending for a theatrical feel. Readers who want the sequels should go to the books next, since neither film adapts A Wind in the Door or A Swiftly Tilting Planet.
