About Airwolf
Airwolf opened January 1984 on CBS with a two hour pilot about String Hawke and the supersonic helicopter held by the Firm with Santini. Season 1 ran 12 episodes, with seasons 2 and 3 at 22 each through March 1986 and strong action ratings.
CBS cancelled it after season 3, then USA picked up season 4 for 24 episodes from January to August 1987 with Barry Van Dyke as St. John, the Company replacing the Firm, Canadian production and recycled flight footage. No official revival exists beyond an unconfirmed 2025 shared universe rumor.
Good to know
Watch CBS seasons 1 through 3, then the USA season 4 as a separate branch. The season 4 premiere Blackjack reboots the cast, so expect a continuity break going in. The CBS run ends cleanly enough on its own for viewers who skip the revamp. Flight footage repeats in season 4 because of the cut budget.
