Big Little Lies follows the Monterey Five through school gala murder and cover up. Season 1 ran seven episodes from February 2017 with Vallee directing the Perry abuse reveal. Season 2 ran seven episodes from June 2019 with Andrea Arnold directing and Meryl Streep as Mary Louise pressing the lie.
David E. Kelley created the HBO run from Liane Moriarty's book. HBO confirmed season 3 in September 2025 with no premiere date yet. The mystery opens on the death and rewinds, so every episode assumes the last one's secrets.
