About Castle
Castle aired on ABC from March 2009 to May 2016 for eight seasons and 173 episodes. It follows novelist Rick Castle, played by Nathan Fillion, shadowing detective Kate Beckett, played by Stana Katic, from the first case to the wedding. Season arcs cycle through the 3XK killer, Senator Bracken's conspiracy and the LokSat disappearance.
ABC closed it in 2016 after contract talks ended the run with a flash-forward family ending filmed quickly. No revival has been ordered, leaving the finale's seven-years-later button as the close rather than a planned goodbye.
Good to know
Watch one through eight in broadcast order, since the Beckett's-mother case and the wedding assume the full run. The show is episodic around one murder each, so an occasional skip harms nothing outside the mythology episodes. Later seasons lean into the conspiracy arcs, which play best with the early partnership years fresh.
