About Criminal Minds
Criminal Minds follows the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit profiling killers across fifteen seasons from 2005 to 2020, with Hotchner, Reid and Garcia as the long core. Two spinoffs, Suspect Behavior and Beyond Borders, run as standalone team variants launched from backdoor pilots.
Evolution revived the flagship on Paramount+ from 2022 as seasons 16 through 19 with serialized arcs. Season 19 closed in July 2026 and season 20 is renewed for 2027. Watch the original straight through, take the spinoffs after their launch seasons, then run Evolution in order.
Good to know
Release order is story order with one viewing rule: Suspect Behavior launches from season 5 episode 18 and Beyond Borders from season 10 episode 19. Both spinoffs stand alone and were cancelled quickly. Evolution continues the same BAU with the same case files, so treat seasons 16 through 19 as one block. Season 20 is renewed for 2027 and in production since May 2026.
