About Derek
Derek is the Channel 4 comedy drama written, directed by and starring Ricky Gervais as Derek Noakes, a gentle care assistant at the Broadhill retirement home. Kerry Godliman plays manager Hannah, Karl Pilkington plays Dougie and David Earl plays Kev. A pilot aired on 12 April 2012, a six-episode first series ran from January to March 2013, and a six-episode second series ran from April to May 2014.
The run closes with a 60-minute final special on 22 December 2014, built around a wedding at the home. Channel 4 billed it as the last episode, and no further series followed. Watch the pilot first, then both series and the special in air order for the full Broadhill arc.
Good to know
Release order and story order are the same list, so there is no separate chronological order worth listing. Count the 2012 pilot as episode one, since Series 1 assumes you know the home and its residents. The 2014 special is the planned ending rather than a reunion extra, and it resolves the Hannah and Tom thread, so do not stop at Series 2.
