About Early Doors

Early Doors is the BBC Two sitcom written by Craig Cash and Phil Mealey, set entirely in the Stockport pub The Grapes with landlord Ken, barmaid Tanya and regulars like Joe, Duffy, Joan and Eddie. Series 1 aired six episodes from 12 May to 16 June 2003, built around Melanies search for her real father and a trip to York Races.

Series 2 aired six episodes from 13 September to 18 October 2004, built around a threatened brewery rebrand and Mels 21st birthday. Cash directed the second run, and the twelve episodes form one closed pub saga with Maxine Peake and James McAvoy among the cast.

Good to know

There is no separate chronological order for Early Doors worth listing, since every scene plays in sequence with callbacks that only land if seen in order. Watch Series 1 then Series 2, including the Quiz Night and Part Time closers. The 2018 live stage return is a separate extra, not part of the television run.
