About On the Buses
On the Buses films star Reg Varney as Stan with Bob Grant as Jack dodging Inspector Blakey across three Hammer comedies. On the Buses from August 1971 moves the depot to overtime strikes with 7 million tickets and canteen gags. Mutiny on the Buses from 1972 adds new bus wars with rota fights.
Holiday on the Buses from 1973 sends the crew to Pontins camp for the farewell with Olive and Mum. The TV series ran seven runs from 1969 to 1973 with the same trio and catchphrases. No fourth film was made, so the 1973 camp stands as the close.
Good to know
Watch the TV series before the three films since Blakey, Mum and Olive gags carry over directly. The films assume you know the depot rota and canteen from weekly shows. Each film runs 90 minutes with broader stunts than TV. Treat the three as a closed depot arc with the 1973 holiday as the final bow.
