About Eurovision Song Contest

The Eurovision Song Contest runs yearly since 1956 with national entries and live finals. Early years from Lugano built the orchestra and jury voting. The 1970s to 1990s added color TV, new languages and the ABBA breakthrough in 1974.

Modern years use semifinals, televote plus juries and large stage shows from 2004 onward. Recent contests in the 2020s run two semifinals plus a Saturday final. Watch by decades in order because voting rules and stage size change each era. The contest is ongoing with a new final every May.

Good to know

Decade order keeps rule changes clear without listing 60 plus finals one by one. The 1950s to 1960s set jury voting. The 1970s to 1980s add new countries and the 1974 ABBA win. The 1990s add eastern entries after 1993. The 2000s add semifinals from 2004. The 2010s to 2020s use the current televote jury split. Start with any decade final, but go forward for rule growth.
