About First Love
First Love is Netflix Japan's 2022 limited romance built from Hikaru Utada's songs First Love and Hatsukoi. Nine episodes dropped November 24, 2022, following Yae and Harumichi from 1990s high school through adult separation to reunion. The Hokkaido winters and the taxi present carry the run.
The series is a single closed story with no second season. Its dual timeline resolves in the finale without hooks. Watch episodes 1 through 9 in order since the past and present alternate by design across the nine.
Good to know
Watch episodes 1 through 9 in release order. The 1990s and present threads alternate on purpose, so the reunion only lands with both behind it. No second season exists or is planned by Netflix Japan. The Utada songs sit behind the story as inspiration, never homework. The nine stand as a complete limited series.
