About Gavin and Stacey
Gavin from Essex and Stacey from Barry meet and anchor two families. Series 1 ran 6 episodes from May 13, 2007 on BBC Three. Series 2 ran 7 episodes from March 16, 2008 with the 2008 Christmas special. Series 3 ran 6 episodes from November 26, 2009 into early 2010 with the 2009 Christmas special.
The 2019 Christmas special from December 25, 2019 drew over 17 million viewers and ends with Nessa proposing to Smithy. The 90 minute finale aired December 25, 2024 and resolves that cliffhanger plus the fishing trip question. Corden and Jones confirmed it as the last ever episode.
Good to know
Broadcast order is the guide, with specials after their series. Do not start with 2019 or 2024, since both assume 17 years of history. The 2008 and 2009 specials sit inside the original run, while 2019 and 2024 form a closing pair five years apart. A Fond Farewell documentary from December 2024 works as an epilogue after the finale. No further episodes are planned.
