About Hanna
Hanna starts with the 2011 film about a girl raised off the grid by Erik Heller and hunted by Marissa Wiegler. The Amazon series from 2019 retells that setup across three seasons with Esme Creed-Miles, then widens the Utrax program behind Hanna.
Season 1 covers Hanna leaving the forest and reaching Berlin. Season 2 follows the Utrax trainees and Hanna inside the program. Season 3 closes the run against new leadership. Watch the film first, then the three seasons, since the series assumes the premise is familiar and moves faster.
Good to know
The series is a retelling in a separate continuity, not a sequel to the film, so there is no single timeline to sort. The film still works as the cleanest entry point because it sets up Erik, Marissa and the off grid childhood in two hours. The series then replays that escape with more room for Utrax. The run closed with season 3 in 2021 and no revival had been announced as of October 2026.
